Mark Mathabane’s book, Kaffir Boy: the story of a black youth’s coming of age in apartheid South Africa, is an American Library Association "Outstanding Book for the College-Bound and Life-Long Learners,” and his portfolio includes copious articles on human rights, education and race. He shares his belief that recognizing and affirming our common humanity is key to survival and achieving peace; that education and knowledge are key to overcoming adversity, unleashing one's potential and achieving success in life.
