Downloadable E-Audiobooks FAQ
Q. What kind of books will be available to me as a download?
A. There are fiction, non-fiction, language learning and the Holy Bible.
Q. How do I know if I have the right Windows Media Viewer, MP3 player, or memory for this service?
A. There are lots of helpful links on the "NetLibrary - Help" section such as "FAQ - eAudiobooks" and "Compatible Portable Listening Devices".
Q. Great. Can I begin this process from home?
A. If you have an Ada Community Library, Star Branch Library or Hidden Springs Branch card, you can create your NetLibrary account from anywhere. Access NetLibrary and then click on “Create a Free Account” in the upper right hand corner.
Q. Sounds easy so far, what are the two ways?
A. You can find downloadable book titles via the library’s online catalog where they are listed as “electronic resource” or via searching on NetLibrary. Within NetLibrary, you may conduct a keyword, title, author, or narrator search.
Q. Okay, what’s next?
A. After completing a search and locating a particular title, when you request to “Checkout and Download either radio or CD quality” you will be prompted to login. Here is where you enter your NetLibrary username and password and the download process will begin.
Q. I see the download is complete, now how can I listen to it?
A. Once a book is downloaded, you have the option of listening at your computer or transferring the E-Audiobook to a portable MP3 player.
Q. Can I download to my Mac and can my sister transfer from her PC to her iPod?
A. At this time neither iPods nor Macs will work with NetLibrary audiobooks.
Q. So those of us with Macs or without home computers or MP3s cannot listen to these at all?
A. Ada Community Library will soon be circulating about 5 MP3 players and wireless adapter transmitters for car or home stereo which you can borrow on your library card. We will also allow you to download E-Audiobooks to one of our public computers for transfer to the MP3.
Q. This sounds cool, but it is all so new to me, what if I have other questions?
A. Please contact us if you have questions. Use our email address askit@adalib.org or call us at 362-0181 ext. 6. We welcome questions as that indicates to us the interest level for this service.
