New Branch on the Horizon
Submitted by mary on August 31, 2010 - 4:33pm.Ada Community Library staff and trustees are very happy to see that library services are still in great demand; we’ve experienced increases in usage areas including circulation, library visits and program attendance over the years. Consequently, the Victory Branch has faced challenges with parking and interior space as well as in programming capacity.
Our district’s unique geography accompanied by increased housing development prompted a 2008 Geographic Information Systems analysis of our district’s current and expected population densities and lifestyles. The southern district area around Lake Hazel was identified as having the highest density population and the highest percent population who are not currently library patrons.
The proposed Lake Hazel Branch Library, near the corner of Lake Hazel and Five Mile Roads in Lake Hazel Village, will serve as a community hub for this growing and underserved area of our library district. It will encourage community interaction and offer resources for recreation, lifelong learning, formal education, and professional endeavors. The full-service library will offer a warm and welcoming environment with computer and Internet access; books, movies, music, and games; spaces for group and individual study as well as large meetings and activities; relaxing reading areas; and a variety of programs for all ages and interests.
We invite you to view the interior layout plan and summary and services document, then complete a brief online survey to let us know what you think of the new branch plan and what you would like to see regarding services from your existing branch library at Victory, Star, or Hidden Springs.
